Last week, Prof. Jacopo Donnini from Università Politecnica delle Marche presented the results of the activities performed within Work Package 2 of the RECONSTRUCT project at the 3rd International Workshop on ‘Durability and Sustainability of Concrete Structures‘, held in Naples from 16 to 18 September 2025.

The laboratory results of alkali-activated cement concrete (AACC) manufactured using blast furnace slag and waste materials such as almond shell and olive stone biomass ashes were presented. The study demonstrates the viability and potential of using these alternative materials to replace Portland cement in the production of concrete components with a lower environmental impact.
