RECONSTRUCT workshop at Sustainable Places, Milan, 10 October 2025, 09.00 - 10.30 CET
Last week, RECONSTRUCT joined the workshop ‘From waste to worth: Circular Pathways for Decarbonising the Built Environment‘ hosted by the Sustainable Places international fair (Milan, 8-10 October 2025).
The workshop, organised in the form of breakout sessions, offered the opportunity to RECONSTRUCT and fellow projects SIRCULAR, DeCO2 and INBUILT to showcase how European projects can positively contribute to addressing the built environment challenges.
In particular, Yasmine Zaki Abdelaziz, Social Innovation Officer at ICONS, presented RECONSTRUCT’s fully circular building practices and facilitated the discussion during the breakout session on ‘Engagement, replication and innovation uptake across Europe‘.
Main takeaways from the discussion include:
- The need to contextualise methodologies and activities, especially when it comes to targeted stakeholder engagement.
- The importance of distinguishing between “engagement” and “involvement”, ensuring clarity in objectives and approaches.
- The value of planning iterative activities, allowing for continuous learning, adaptation, and improvement.
A great opportunity to strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing across similar projects and stakeholder groups!
