RECONSTRUCT soon ready to open up the demo buildings’ yards
Project update
The third General Assembly of the European project took place last week
The consortium meeting, hosted by the Institut Català del Sòl (INCASOL), was a productive opportunity for partners to exchange updates, share their views, and discuss demo site progress, for both the Barcelona and Brussels areas.
The assembly started facing the most technical parts of the activities. The project partners had the opportunity to look at the data concerning the Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) that are being classified, quantified and geolocalised. These data are crucial as they will enable the installation of the related management system for both demo sites.
Unity is a strength and was well demonstrated by the technical partners working together on the construction materials tests and investigating the optimal components. The objective is to create the prefabricated elements which will be then designed for disassembly and reuse.
The Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya (ITeC), the project coordinator, and the Institute of Communication & Computer Systems (ICCS) have continued to show how they are proceeding with the Digital Product Passport (DPP) that will be developed specifically for RECONSTRUCT’s construction products. This will guarantee transparency and trustworthiness in the traceability of the building materials.
The assembly has continued with Societat Organica (SOO) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) explaining the state of the process for both circular demo buildings construction. They are about to finalise the technical projects necessary to get the building permits.
It followed a more interactive session. An exploitation workshop was carried out. The partners focused on building common knowledge on Key Exploitable Results, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and their exploitation options. A second workshop to define the local stakeholder engagement strategy and activities in the Barcelona and Brussels areas has concluded the meeting.
The project partners have confirmed their enthusiasm to face the upcoming phases. Next months, the consortium will lay the first foundations of the construction sites.
