RECONSTRUCT Webinar showcases solutions for the future of sustainable construction

News releases

On 25 February 2026, the RECONSTRUCT project hosted a dynamic online webinar in Spanish titled “New Sustainable Concretes and Precast Elements: Trends and Real Cases”, bringing together experts from research and industry to explore the latest innovations driving circular construction.

This webinar focused on emerging materials, technologies, and real-world applications designed to reduce the environmental footprint of concrete, cement, and precast components.

Over 50 minutes of technical presentations, speakers shared cutting-edge developments in circular construction:

  • Carlos Rodriguez (CTCON) and Erich Meiners (VUB) introduced the RECONSTRUCT project and presented new-generation concretes and cements designed to support circular construction models.
  • Clara Bretas (Group Symmetry) discussed the development of new materials with lower environmental impact.
  • Pere Borralleras (Master Builders Solutions España S.L.U.) explored innovative water-reducing additives for alkaline activated binders, highlighting their role in improving performance and sustainability.
  • Antonio J. Martinez Espinosa and Francisco Javier Benito Saorin (URDECON INNOVA / HUB ECONOVA – PTEC) shared real cases of circular prefabricated solutions based on alternative cement materials.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants exchanged insights and discussed lessons learned on emerging circular construction solutions from real cases and demo buildings.

From innovative alkaline-activated cements to prefabricated solutions, the webinar demonstrated how research, industry, and technology are converging to reshape a more sustainable future of construction.
